Ex-Red Bull driver claims Max Verstappen outshone ‘wet weather master’ Lewis Hamilton with Brazilian GP victory
Former F1 driver Karun Chandhok asserted that Max Verstappen's Brazilian GP win was better than Lewis Hamilton's skills in the rain.

Max Verstappen pulled off one of the best performances of his F1 career at the Brazilian GP last weekend. The three-time world champion went on to win the Interlagos race despite starting from P17. Now, former F1 driver Karun Chandhok has applauded the Dutchman’s drive, comparing it to Lewis Hamilton.
Chandhok highlighted that Max Verstappen‘s performance last weekend was hugely impressive. The former Indian driver reckoned that Lewis Hamilton is the wet weather master in Formula 1. However, Verstappen showed that only he was capable of delivering such an incredible result at Interlagos.
It’s hugely impressive… Lewis [Hamilton] is a wet weather master, but on this day it was only Verstappen who could just come through the pack.

Karun Chandhok‘s comments on Hamilton being the wet weather master might raise some eyebrows. Max Verstappen is no stranger to stellar drives in the rain. The Red Bull driver had put in a similar performance in 2016 at the same track, something which the Dutchman still remembers as one of his greatest races.
Karun Chandhok insists Max Verstappen wanted to ‘destroy’ the competition
The ex-F1 driver emphasized that Verstappen’s performance was similar to other F1 greats including Lewis Hamilton and Ayrton Senna. Chandhok mentioned that such drivers are not satisfied just by winning the race. Rather, someone like Max Verstappen wants to completely destroy the competition. The 27-year-old’s Interlagos victory came with an enormous lead of 19 seconds.
They don’t just want to win but… to put a marker down and say ‘we’re going to destroy the opposition and show you how far ahead we can get.’

Certainly, Verstappen’s incredible pace last weekend was an amazing sight for fans. The reigning world champion has virtually ended all hopes of Lando Norris over the 2024 F1 title. However, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman can secure the championship at the next race.
