Kyle Larson had recently been unwary of Max Verstappen‘s dominance as the former claimed he was an all-around better driver. The American received constant backlash over his statement from the Formula 1 community. However, multiple key figures from NASCAR have backed up Larson. In addition to others, 2014 Cup Champion Kevin Harvick has weighed in on the matter.
Tim Coronel claimed that Kyle Larson would ‘cry’ against Max Verstappen in just two sessions. Despite Larson’s strict words, Verstappen held a neutral stance and noted that it was pointless to argue on the matter. Kevin Harvick noted Larson would start driving Verstappen’s chassis fast in just two days. However, Harvick believed there was no way the Dutchman could do the same in NASCAR.
The thing I can tell you is that if Kyle Larson went to drive Max Verstappen's car, in one or two days, he'd be damn close to being as fast as Max Verstappen, but there is no way Max Verstappen comes over here and does that in a stock car.Kevin Harvick said on the Happy Harvick podcast
Additionally, Harvick accepted Verstappen was very talented and good in his discipline. Also, the Dutchman noted that drivers specialized in their fields and couldn’t excel in everything. However, according to Harvick, this wasn’t the case for Kyle Larson as he was better in all aspects.
Max is extremely talented and very, very, very good at what he does for his discipline and I heard him talk about drivers being specialised in their discipline, but that is not Kyle Larson.Kevin Harvick added
Kevin Harvick claims Max Verstappen can’t do ‘anything close’ to what Kyle Larson does
Kevin Harvick further took shots on Max Verstappen’s chances against Kyle Larson. The 48-year-old claimed Larson could go out and drive anything and excel in it. Additionally, Harvick asserted that Verstappen would do ‘just okay’ against the 32-year-old. However, the Dutchman couldn’t achieve a performance anywhere close to the NASCAR champion, according to the American.
Kyle Larson can go out and drive anything, he is very good at his discipline, but he has got multiple disciplines, and we saw what he did in an Indycar. I truly believe that Max would do okay, but he's not going to do anything close to what Kyle Larson does.Kevin Harvick noted
Both drivers have managed decorated careers in their respective fields. Additionally, both of them are highly unlikely to compete against each other in a similar category. Hence, it is best to assume that both are doing extremely well in their own categories. As a result, there is no point in discussing who’s better over whom as both of them are equally good.
