- Aston Martin is experiencing its worst start to a Formula 1 season since joining the grid.
- Lance Stroll described the car's intense vibrations as uncomfortable and detrimental to both the engine and driver.
- The team is working on improvements but acknowledges they won't be competitive at the Australian GP.
Aston Martin is suffering from the career-worst start to any season in Formula 1 since their inception on the grid. The team had great hopes coming into the new regulations in the 2026 season, with Adrian Newey taking charge. However, the car is suffering from intense vibrations, among other problems. Now, Lance Stroll makes a concerning remark about the team’s expectations at the Australian GP.
Following Adrian Newey‘s entry to the team and his promotion to the team principal, people expected the Green squad to start the new season in style. But the team’s running in the initial test sessions was far from ideal. Moreover, doubts are lingering over the team’s performance at the season opener Australian GP, with the Silverstone-based squad aiming not complete the entire race.
Aston Martin’s AMR26 challenger is found to have intense vibrations in the car ahead of the race week in Australia. Lance Stroll has not sugarcoated the situation and talked about what to expect for the upcoming race. Stroll reckoned that it was difficult to explain the car’s current problems. He noted that it was like electrocuting yourself on a chair. The Canadian highlighted that driving the current car wasn’t far from this feeling.
Lance Stroll insisted that driving the car was simply uncomfortable, especially because of the vibrations. He asserted that these vibrations were bad not only for the engine, but also for the human driving the car from the cockpit. Now, the Australian GP seems to be out of reach for Silverstone, but they are focusing on getting on top of the problems and fixing them ahead of the subsequent races.
I don’t know how you can compare it, I guess just electrocute yourself on a chair or something like that, not far off. It’s just, it’s very uncomfortable vibrations. It’s bad for the engine, but also for the human inside the car. We need to get on top of it, but I think we will.
Lance Stroll said, as reported by motorsport.com.
Lance Stroll makes a brutal admission about Australian GP
Certainly, Aston Martin has been suffering from a performance slump for quite some time now and is unable to get out of it. Lance Stroll accepted that the team was not going to be where they wanted at the beginning of the 2026 season. However, the year has just started, and there is a long road to development throughout the season.

Hence, Lance Stroll noted that changes were going to take place throughout the season, and they already started working on the car following the pre-season test in Bahrain. Stroll pointed out that these changes did not happen overnight and took quite some time. Regardless, Aston Martin was trying to get on top of the problems, with some ideas already being set in motion.
Are we going to be where we want to be this weekend? No, Bahrain was only a couple of weeks ago, and these changes don’t happen over night. But, we made some changes over the last couple of weeks and we’ll see how we go. It’s not good. We’re trying to get on top of it, fix it. We have some ideas this week to solve some of those issues, and we’ll see in FP1 if it’s better than it was in Bahrain.
Lance Stroll noted.
Aston Martin needs to get on top of the issues and fix them as soon as possible. Fernando Alonso’s contract runs out at the end of the 2026 season, and his continuation in the sport depends on the development. The Asturian might give up on the dream and decide to quit the sport altogether. Hence, time will tell about how the team develops over the season and achieves a turnaround from their current struggles.
