Lando Norris the McLaren F1 driver, has surprisingly found himself in the fight for the 2024 world championship. He is only 78 points behind Max Verstappen and going ahead, he does not want to commit any shocking blunders.

The 24-year-old has triumphed in only a single Grand Prix this year (maiden F1 win) but has often been in the podium places. This is one aspect, in which Lando Norris wants to keep performing in the same manner.

He genuinely feels even if he is not winning, it helps him and McLaren immensely if he is in the podium places regularly.

I won one race, but we're still in the fight. And sometimes it's not always about winning as much as you always want it to be. But for the most part, I've been there, second, first, third, second, third, fourth, second, third.

Norris further went on to add the following.

And that's also a big part of the championship, not just having one amazing race and going, we nailed that and then having an absolute shocker the next one.

The prolific Brit has been one of the standout performers of the 2024 F1 season. He has proved himself as a serious threat against Max Verstappen and the duo even banged wheels with each other at the Austrian GP.

McLaren has lined up ‘some upgrades’ for second half of 2024

Norris is upbeat heading into the second half of the ongoing campaign and the same is the case with the McLaren F1 team. The outfit has exceeded its expectations and is ready to unleash more performance going forward.

Its team principal, Andrea Stella has recently admitted to lining up a few upgrades for the remaining races.

In a way I’m surprised that we’ve been so competitive, considering that from Miami onwards we haven’t actually brought trackside many new parts. So it means that obviously the Miami upgrade was big, but there’s some upgrades that will come in the second part of the season.

The fight especially for the Constructors Championship is being seen by many as a four-way brawl between Red Bull, McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari. With only 10 races remaining, Norris and Co. really can’t afford any slip-ups even though they are currently in second.

The Toto Wolff-led Mercedes F1 team won three of the last four races before the summer break and they are in no mood of slowing down. Moreover, Ferrari can’t also be counted out given their might in the sport. Keeping in everything that has been discussed, the second half of the ongoing campaign will be a fascinating watch.
