Lando Norris had a tough race in the US, despite starting from pole position. He struggled to hold his lead and faced a battle with Max Verstappen that led to a five-second penalty, costing him a podium finish. However, Norris is determined to bounce back from these challenges and aims to win the next race in Mexico.

The competition remained with five races and two sprints for Lando Norris to capitalize on as many points as possible. The US race was expected to reduce the initial 52-point gap between them. However, the outcome was different, with Max Verstappen gaining five points more on the Briton.

There are still ample opportunities for him to outpace the Dutchman, starting with the upcoming race in Mexico. Norris admitted that it was a tough blow for him and the team in the US. They encountered a penalty that disrupted his race and his teammate Oscar Piastri struggling with pace meant they couldn’t compete with the front runners.

Losing out of the podium was a tough blow, but I can’t wait to try again this weekend in Mexico . Once again we will give it our all and aim to finish the GP in a good position.

Lando Norris told Formulapassion.it

As the season approaches its climax, the atmosphere in Mexico becomes even more electric. Norris expressed his love for the country. He also highlighted the passionate fans who create a vibrant and festive environment at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

I really enjoy coming to Mexico. The fans are passionate and the atmosphere is always fun. For us riders the altitude is an interesting challenge that we train for all year round: it will make it more fun.

Lando Norris added

This high-altitude track in Mexico City presents unique challenges, impacting car performance due to reduced air density. Norris is looking forward to a strong comeback, remembering his remarkable 2022 performance where he started 17th and finished fifth.

Oscar Piastri emphasized ‘extremely motivated’ for the Mexican GP

While Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri scored points at the Austin race, their performance still left something to be desired. Although they secured enough points to maintain a safe position in the Constructors, both Norris and Piastri expressed their dissatisfaction with the overall outcome.

As they looked ahead to the Mexican Grand Prix, Piastri stated that the team was excitement and motivated to return to action.

We got good points in Austin, but we want to improve the loot in Mexico City. We are all extremely motivated, I can’t wait to run. We still have five races this season and I am determined to end the season well.

Oscar Piastri explained

McLaren is keen to score more points, especially with only a 40-point gap between it and Red Bull. With Ferrari also in contention, the pressure is on McLaren to perform well and solidify its position in the championship.
