McLaren and Ferrari have continued to closely follow Red Bull’s highly dominant performance in recent weeks. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc scored the pole position in Monaco, while Max Verstappen only managed a P6 start for the race. However, Lando Norris anticipates a challenge against the Italian constructor around the Monte Carlo circuit.
Lando Norris was full of praises for McLaren’s squad to showcase a great pace against Red Bull at the Monaco GP. The 24-year-old wished to perform better than Ferrari in Monaco. However, as depicted from the results, Woking nearly missed out on the pole position against Charles Leclerc. As a result, the Briton anticipates a difficult challenge at the street circuit against the Maranello-based team for the race win.
It is a great result for the team but we have been very fast all weekend and better than Red Bull, I would have liked to be higher but Charles was half a second faster than me, it will be very difficult to beat Ferrari.Lando Norris said during post-session interview.
Leclerc has performed extremely well at his home race and will potentially score the race win on Sunday. McLaren’s newfound improvement in pace could witness a great battle between the two teams for the race win. Additionally, with Max Verstappen‘s P6 start and Sergio Perez‘s Q1 elimination, Red Bull is highly unlikely to compete for the win.

Lando Norris would ‘love’ to score a win at the Monaco GP against Red Bull and Ferrari
Norris has been performing extremely well in the 2024 season. He is currently in the fourth spot in the drivers’ championship and can propel himself to the runner-up spot soon. Hence, Norris admitted that he would love to score the race win, especially in Monaco. However, he claimed his aim was to win every race possible and not just the ongoing event.
I would love it… But I want to win every race, not just Monaco or that kind of thing.Lando Norris said, as reported by Formula 1.
Speaking on McLaren’s positive performance, Norris reckoned that he was ‘focused’ and in good spirits. The motivation and energy to keep scoring such great results was high in the team due to the recent upgrading of the MCL38. As a result, there is a decent chance of continuing to close the gap on the rival teams by keeping such results up.
We’re focused, we’re in good spirits. Of course, the motivation and the energy is very high from the team, because we’ve had some great results lately. If we keep it up, there’s always a chance.Lando Norris added.
The competition between the top three teams has never been closer under the ongoing ground-effect era. Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren could have a great three-way battle toward the end of the season for the top spot. Hence, Milton Keynes would need to continue to harbor in-season upgrades to have a shot at closing the window on the opponents.
