Lando Norris has emerged as one of the better drivers on the F1 grid in the 2025 season, courtesy of McLaren’s dominant pace. Norris has established his position in the championship standings as he continues to fight with Oscar Piastri for the title lead. However, the Briton could be open for a late-season battle with Max Verstappen as the latter is just 70 points behind the former. Amid the impending championship battle, the 25-year-old has revealed the difference in mentality between him and Verstappen.
Max Verstappen is infamous for his cold and no-nonsense attitude while racing on the grid. The Dutchman doesn’t hesitate to speak openly on any matter, even if it is something the majority of people don’t want to hear. Meanwhile, Lando Norris is known to be humble and too critical of his mistakes on track. The Briton has often been warned not to be so self-critical, but he has yet to change this aspect of himself.
As such, Lando Norris talked about his personality, especially as a driver on the F1 track. Norris insisted that he admired the characteristics of other drivers, Max Verstappen being one of those. The Briton explained that he sometimes wished to have the former’s ‘f**k you’ attitude. But, he accepted that he couldn’t be like Verstappen as he contrasted with the 25-year-old in many ways possible.
I admire characteristics and mentalities of other drivers such as Max, where it really is that kind of ‘f*** you’ attitude. Sometimes I’m like, ‘I wish I was more like that, I really do’. But it’s just the difference of people, and Max probably contrasts with me the most in some ways.
Lando Norris told Viaplay
Lando Norris pointed out that he was aware of his habits and mentality and how they could be considered as a weakness by many people. However, Norris emphasized that it was a weakness only if he gave in to what people in the media and online said about him. Meanwhile, the Briton asserted that champions like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, even Ayrton Senna, and others did not pay much attention to the haters.
Some days I know what I have, it can be weaker and it can be taken advantage of – but only if I really give in to you or media or anyone questioning a lot and saying it is a weakness because Lewis wasn’t like that, Max, a four-time world champion, is not like that; these guys weren’t like that, Senna, Prost, whoever you want to say.

Lando Norris reveals ‘advantage’ over Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri has emerged as the better driver out of the two at McLaren as he leads the driver’s title standings by 34 points. Lando Norris has committed multiple mistakes that have caused him to lose a lot of running in the pecking order. Although Piastri seems to be the favorite to win the title this year, Norris still believes that he has some advantage over the former as he could outscore him sooner or later.

Lando Norris has been racing in Formula 1 since the 2019 season, while Oscar Piastri joined recently in the 2023 season. This meant that Norris had an advantage of four years’ worth of experience against Piastri. As such, the Briton accepted that he hated bringing up this fact as having an advantage over his teammate, but he explained that his biggest advantage over the 24-year-old was indeed his advantage.
As much as I always hated using experience as an excuse or reasoning for things, you end up going, ‘yeah, well, I just learned about this because of experience’, And that is my advantage over Oscar.
Lando Norris noted
The 2025 season still has nine races to go, with the Italian GP coming right up. Lando Norris must ensure that he puts forth a flawless performance in all the remaining races to trump his Aussie counterpart. Meanwhile, Piastri doesn’t need to do much, but keep up with the same pace for the rest of the season and keep making Norris’ life hard on the track.
