Lando Norris is officially the 2025 Driver’s Champion after a rollercoaster of a season. The Briton had glimpses in between the season where he might have lost it all. However, Norris managed a stellar comeback in performance and left no stone unturned after gaining the title lead. Now, after winning the title after a close battle in Abu Dhabi, the 26-year-old breaks down in tears and claims he looks like a loser because of his teary eyes.
The 2025 season driver’s title battle has been extremely exciting ever since the paddock returned from the summer break. Lando Norris clinched the title lead from Oscar Piastri following the latter’s on-track woes. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was in a league of his own and managed a stellar comeback from a 104-point deficit down to just two points following his Abu Dhabi victory.
However, Lando Norris didn’t have to win the Abu Dhabi GP to seal his maiden title win in Formula 1 after racing for over six years. Understandably, Norris was spotted crying profusely following an extremely high moment in his racing career.
While speaking in the post-race interview, the Briton noted that he did not plan on crying despite winning the title. But, he couldn’t help but cry in the moment and soak in everything that happened in the 2025 season.
Lando Norris thanked everyone at McLaren for everything they did this year and helped him in his title ambitions. The Briton even showered his appreciation towards his parents, who supported and funded his career since the beginning. However, after crying so much, Norris jokingly claimed that he looked like a loser despite winning the highly sought-after F1 driver’s championship.
Oh god. I have not cried in a while. I did not think id cry. Its been a long journey. I want to thank my guys at McLaren, my mom and dad who supported me from the beginning. I look loke a loser.

Lando Norris claims he understands what Max Verstappen “feels like”
Max Verstappen couldn’t quite win his fifth consecutive driver’s title in Formula 1 despite recording one of the greatest comebacks in the history of Formula 1. Lando Norris won the title this time around and reckoned that he was still soaking in all the highs. After winning his maiden championship, the Briton pointed out that he now understood what Verstappen felt all throughout the years winning the coveted driver’s title.

Lando Norris paid his due diligence to Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, and congratulated them on their P2 and P3 finishes in the championship. Norris continued that it was a pleasure to race against two of the best drivers on the track this year. Regardless, the 26-year-old was the one who won the title this around and bested the rivals on track in a highly impressive manner.
I now know what Max feels like a little bit! I want to congratulate Max and Oscar as well, it has been a pleasure to race against both of them, and to learn from both of them. But we did it, we did it! I am so proud of everyone.

The 2025 season is now in the past, and Lando Norris is the rightful winner of the driver’s title. McLaren achieved an amazing year after winning both championships for the Papaya squad. Now, the team will set its sights on the upcoming season and the new regulations. Certainly, it isn’t a picture-perfect finish for either Oscar Piastri or Max Verstappen, but it is what it is.
