Lando Norris has been massively excelling in recent races thanks to McLaren’s dominant car. The Briton sits second in the Drivers’ Championship and trails Max Verstappen by 78 points. Norris won his first race of the season in Miami and nearly won in Austria but missed out due to a collision with Verstappen. The McLaren driver highlighted the mistakes he needed to improve to snatch the lead from the Dutchman sitting at the top of the table.
Lando Norris in an interview explained that he needs to work on various aspects of his performance rather than just one area. He highlighted consistency being the major area where improvements are needed. He believed that refining several aspects of his driving, such as his starts and other minor details, would help him perform better. Norris reckoned that by focusing on these small improvements, he can enhance his overall consistency. This would eventually strengthen his chances of success in the championship.
A place I need to improve. there isn't a [general] singular thing. It's consistency. I definitely think a little bit of just cleaning a few areas. My starts, that kind of thing.Lando Norris said, as reported by RacingNews365
Lando Norris stated that he didn’t make the same mistakes every time he started a race or when he was leading. He didn’t believe that his problems were due to feeling pressured or being in a position he hadn’t been in for a while. The issues he faced were not consistent or related to stress, they were small errors that he could address and improve. The 26-year-old felt that his performance problems came from fine-tuning specific areas rather than from pressure or unfamiliar position.
It's not like I'm doing this every time wrong in my starts, or this every time wrong when I'm leading. I really don't think it's got anything to do with pressure or being in a position I've not been in for a while.Lando Norris added.
Lando Norris claims ‘95%’ of times he is in a good position
Lando Norris explained that he needed to bring everything together and make small improvements. He felt that he was doing well in 95 percent of things, but he acknowledged that he had only won one race so far. Norris knew that many people focused on the fact that he had only one win and criticized him. Despite this the Briton felt confident about his performance overall and will be working on refining the details to improve his success.
It's just about bringing all of it together and just tidying it up a touch. But on 95 percent of things, I feel like I'm in a good position. I know I've only won one race. I see a lot of people saying, 'Oh, he's only won one race', that kind of thing.Lando Norris stated.
Certainly, Lando Norris is confident for the upcoming races, believing that by improving minor errors, he will return to top performance. Fans hope McLaren will continue their success and take the lead from Max Verstappen in the drivers’ standings. They expect McLaren to secure the constructors’ lead as well, which is just one race away.
