McLaren driver Lando Norris and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen have battled valiantly throughout the 2024 season in search of wins and podiums. While Norris has mostly had the faster car, it is Verstappen who leads the title race currently by 62 points.
Max Verstappen, who is known for his aggressive style of driving, has left no stone unturned for the Milton-Keynes-based team. His recent win at Interlagos reiterated his capabilities to the rest of the grid. On the other hand, Lando Norris, despite being brilliant, has won from pole position only twice this year.
Norris has thereafter regretted not being as aggressive as the Dutchman during his battles with the latter. The 25-year-old also said that he has given his best efforts regardless and has just been plainly unlucky on certain occasions.
Norris now heads into the final races of the campaign with very little chance to win the drivers’ championship. He will therefore seek to shift his focus toward helping the Woking-based McLaren in the fiercely contested constructors’ championship.
F1 pundit claims McLaren have not hampered Lando Norris in 2024 title chase
Sky sports pundit Martin Brundle has critiqued McLaren for their approach towards Lando Norris this season. The Papayas lead the constructors’ championship this campaign for the first time since Australia in 2014.
Martin Brundle has said that the Woking-based team has provided Norris with a fast car and every bit of support this season. Moreover, as things stand, the MCL38 is currently the fastest car on the 2024 F1 grid.
Keeping in view how everything has so far panned out, Brundle is convinced that the Papayas will learn amply from the battles and hardships faced this year. They can now carry forward this knowledge in order to rectify their mistakes to perform even better in the coming seasons.
