McLaren driver Lando Norris has shared thoughts on his battle against Red Bull’s Max Verstappen this season. Verstappen leads the drivers’ championship by 57 points to second-placed Norris.
Lando Norris has had the faster car as compared to Max Verstappen ever since the Miami GP this year. However, he has failed to prove as clinical as the Dutchman for the better part of the campaign. Verstappen, on the other hand, has proven to be effectively efficient despite his struggles in the RB20 so far.
Norris has spoken of needing to consistently perform at the level of Verstappen’s brilliance. He is confident of his abilities but has also deemed the three-time world champion as the best in the world.
Both drivers head into the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez event, needing to secure maximum points for their respective teams. Up next awaits an exciting qualifying, which will set the course for the rest of the weekend in Mexico City.
Max Verstappen opts for engine change ahead of final practice in Mexico GP
As per RacingNews365, Max Verstappen is set to swap his previous power unit for a newer one post-torrid runs in FP1 and FP2. No decision has yet been passed on the probable penalties that might be given to Verstappen.
The 27-year-old reportedly complained of facing issues with the power supply during FP1 yesterday. His complaints were traced by his team to an air leak in the system and fixed shortly thereafter as well. Further repairs were also made during FP2 after the session was halted due to George Russell‘s crash.
Verstappen seemed dissatisfied even after the changes, which compelled the Milton-Keynes-based team to air on the side of caution. He will now await a decision by the FIA as to whether or not he has to drop grid places for the race.
