Lando Norris believes it will be difficult for Max Verstappen to clinch the F1 title this season as Mercedes has improved it’s performance recently. However, the McLaren driver reckoned that doubting the three-time world champion might prove foolish.

Lando Norris while talking to media insisted not to underestimate Max Verstappen, even on his worst weekend the Dutch driver manages to score significant number of points. Norris reckoned, Verstappen was consistently strong in every aspect of Formula 1 racing. This ultimately makes him a formidable competitor who shouldn’t be underestimated.

I think what Max is always going to do, his bad weekend is never going to be a bad weekend, he's still going to score a good amount of points. He's just strong in all areas.

The British driver highlighted that Verstappen rarely makes any mistakes during races, especially in qualifying sessions. It is very challenging to doubt the Dutchman in any aspect of racing, because he doesn’t seem to have any significant weaknesses. Norris reckoned, competing with Verstappen is possible with a fast car and consistent performance throughout the racing season.

It’s rare that he makes mistakes, it’s rare that he messes up qualifying. I think it's tough because you can't doubt Max in any area, he doesn't have a weakness outright. It's possible to catch him but it's going to need very good car performance and very consistent performance throughout the whole season.

Lando Norris claimed that the competition is very tough this year. Verstappen may find it difficult to keep winning with Ferrari now competing strongly. He believes, Mercedes joining the battle as well there could be more opportunities for different drivers to score points. This can make the racing more unpredictable, giving others a better chance at beating Verstappen for wins and the championship.

I think it's tough, But there are probably more chances and possibilities now, especially if Mercedes are in the fight, more chance to have a bigger swing of points.

Further, Norris explained in the past races when Verstappen has a bad weekend he finished third or fourth. Now, with stronger team competing, he might end up fifth or sixth. Norris reckoned, if any other driver wins the race, their team can gain a lot of points in just one weekend. This means there’s a better chance for other drivers to close the gap and challenge for the championship.
