Formula launched the 2025 season at London’s O2 during F1 75. The first-ever season launch saw all teams unveiling their liveries for this year. Meanwhile, McLaren’s Lando Norris asserted that he will have to be fighting for the world championship in the upcoming season.
Norris put up a failed title charge in 2024 against Max Verstappen. However, McLaren did manage to win its first constructors’ title since 1998. Lando Norris made it clear that after the improvements made last year, he and the team simply had no excuses left for the upcoming season.
The British driver confessed that in the past, McLaren did have a few excuses. Albeit, he insisted that those reasons were genuinely true. Now, Lando Norris made it clear that the Woking-based squad has nothing to hide behind after having an impressive campaign last year. The British team arguably had the quickest car over the course of 2024.
After last year, I think we kind of have no excuses I guess. In the past we’ve had our fair share of honest and true excuses, I think this year we kind of don’t have any. We have nothing to hide behind.

Lando Norris warns McLaren over ‘getting ahead’ of themselves
The 25-year-old admitted that previously, McLaren would get ahead of themselves after pre-season testing. Sometimes, teams often sandbag their performance during testing, giving a distorted picture of the pecking order. Subsequently, Norris made it clear that the British team will not make judgements over pre-season. Nevertheless, he remained confident over his team’s prospects.

Maybe in the past, we’ve got ahead of ourselves at times before pre-season, so we’re definitely not doing that, but we’re quite confident that we can start the season off in the best way.
Lando Norris explained
Certainly, McLaren could be considered the favorites for 2025 after their end to the previous season. However, Lando Norris and his team understand that things will be far from easy this year. The British driver will undoubtedly need to push himself to the limit since day 1 if he wants to fulfill his dream of winning the title this year.
