In any sport, an athlete needs to believe in themselves and their goals. This self-belief makes them more likely to overcome challenges and difficulties. The same applies to McLaren driver Lando Norris. The Briton never believed he would reach his current level in sport. However, Norris emphasized that he has worked hard to be in Formula 1, but never thought he would reach the level where he currently sits.
In an interview Lando Norris stated that he never believed he would make it to Formula 1. Acknowledging that, many successful people often say that they need a lot of self-belief to achieve great things, but Norris doesn’t completely agree with that idea. He admitted that despite what others might say about success, he didn’t have the strong belief in himself working towards his F1 career. According to him, it’s possible to succeed even if you’re not always confident or sure that you’ll reach your goals.
For Norris, hard work and dedication mattered the most than self-belief for his goals.
For me, I never had the belief I'd be in Formula 1. As much as all the superstars in the world are like: You have to have so much belief in yourself to do this, I don't think you do at all, to be honest. I never did.Lando Norris told RacingNews365
Lando Norris highlighted that even though he has only won one race, he is still competing in Formula 1. What mattered to him was hard work behind the scenes and not the results. Norris believed that the effort and preparation that went on in the background were more important than just winning races. This hard work has kept him in Formula 1, despite not having a long list of victories.
And, I mean, I've only won one race, but I'm still here, in Formula 1. It's more just the work behind the scenes, I think matters more than anything else.Lando Norris added.
Lando Norris claims to figuring out more of his F1 journey
Norris mentioned that he’s still trying to understand himself and figure out what works best for him. He believed the key to success is to figure out what suits a person perfectly. Even though he’s one of the top three drivers in 2024, he’s still learning and figuring things out as he proceeds. The Briton finds this process of self-discovery as Important . Therefore, he reckoned it’s about constantly improving and adapting even if you are at the top.
Really, I think it's just trying to figure yourself out, know what works best for you and maximise that, I feel like that's what I'm doing. I'm still figuring it out along the way.Lando Norris stated.
Certainly, Norris’s journey was always him working hard on his goals, without caring about mind and thoughts. The process of learning and adapting new things should be glued to every successful driver or athlete. Hence, Norris believes the same way.
