Lando Norris started the 2025 season off in a great fashion after winning the season-opener in Australia. However, since then, Norris has committed multiple mistakes that cost him crucial points in the standings. Moreover, the Briton lost the lead of the drivers’ title early on to his teammate, Oscar Piastri, who is on a flawless run right now. Still, the 25-year-old is undeterred by the problems faced this year as he remains optimistic of his championship chances against Piastri.
Oscar Piastri had clarified that he would race his teammate hard on the track for the race wins, as they are no longer bound by the Papaya Rules. Lando Norris, despite seemingly losing his dominance in the drivers’ title, reckoned that he was least concerned about the championship just yet. In addition to this, Norris revealed the importance of the qualifying session and what it meant to start ahead of Piastri.
Norris asserted that a qualifying position was extremely important, more so at a track like the Monaco GP, where there is little to no overtaking. As such, the Briton noted that Piastri could think whatever he wanted as long as he qualified behind the former. Also, the Aussie would have to rethink his strategy based on his starting position on the grid.
You have to wait and see where you qualify first, so he can think what he wants, but he will have to rethink it all depending on where he starts.
Lando Norris told media including RacingNews365
Due to the unpredictable nature of qualifying in Monaco, Lando Norris insisted that it remained a needless worry for him. While Oscar Piastri seems to have the upper hand with a cushion of 13 points against his teammate, Norris seems confident in his approach. Despite having a deep sense of competitiveness in him, the 25-year-old is ready to prioritize a perfect race against personal results.
So for me, it’s just a needless worry. Of course, we went through things, and we know what we would want to try and plan for in a perfect race.

Lando Norris expects a ‘complicated race’ in Monaco
The Monaco GP has remained more or less the same in terms of track layout and rules, and regulations. However, this year is set to be different as F1 announced a compulsory two-stop pit strategy for the main race. This aims to improve competition and make the teams focus more on strategies, as they will now know how to plan the race much further ahead.

Lando Norris is still focused on his driving and is preparing for the race with a laid-back approach. The 25-year-old anticipates a complicated race as it wouldn’t be easy to just pit twice and emerge victorious. Norris reckons that there is a great opportunity for all the drivers as the strategy could make a great difference. However, the Briton believes that being further back on the grid would be more advantageous than previously thought.
It’ll be a complicated race, for sure. It’s not as simple as boxing twice, you know. There is opportunity for everyone, and that’s the biggest thing. I think there could be more luck involved for anyone.
Lando Norris noted
The 2025 season has peaked in excitement and competition, especially at the forefront. Max Verstappen is adrift of Lando Norris by a point deficit of just nine points as the former aims to bridge the gap further. Now, the Monaco GP will be very crucial for all the drivers, especially Norris as he has everything to lose for in this race if he cannot maintain his position in the pecking order.
