Oscar Piastri failed to deliver a championship-winning performance in the 2025 season, especially against his teammate Lando Norris. Despite leading the title campaign for a majority of the year, he failed to score results when it mattered the most. Now, following a massive heartbreak for Piastri in 2025, Norris has confidently claimed that the latter will surely become a world champion soon enough.

Since the beginning of the 2025 season, Oscar Piastri was ready to fight hard against his teammate for the driver’s title. However, some awkward team orders and performance struggles caused Piastri to lose his lead and ultimately the driver’s title. Meanwhile, Lando Norris performed well when it mattered the most and hence brought home his maiden title win.

Still, McLaren Racing’s CEO Zak Brown was confident that Oscar Piastri would surely become an F1 world champion in the near future. Even Lando Norris feels the same and talked in favor of the Briton. Firstly, the 26-year-old pointed out that it was a pleasure to fight Max Verstappen for the title. Norris was delighted to have such close fights with the four-time champion, as the latter did not make life easy for him.

Further, Lando Norris noted that it was a pleasure to share the grid with Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. He boldly claimed that Piastri was going to be an F1 world champion soon enough. The Briton insisted that he enjoyed the season because of the close-call battles on track.

A pleasure to fight Max, four-time world champion. For me to have those fights against him and enjoy those moments, maybe not always enjoy them but some of them, but just to share the track and fight against another world champion like him and certainly Oscar as well, who will be a world champion. I really enjoyed this season because of that. As much as they made my life hell a lot of the time, those moments I almost enjoyed the most.

Lando Norris said, as reported by Crash.net.

Lando Norris claims Oscar Piastri ‘toughest guy to beat’ in 2025 season

Lando Norris could not dominate a majority of the 2025 season, especially because of his own struggles on track. The Briton suffered from a DNF in a couple of races, and in others, he simply wasn’t fast enough. Moreover, Oscar Piastri was always on his toes and never let Norris rest, even for a second, on track.

As such, the reigning F1 champion claimed that Piastri was bound to be one of the toughest guys to beat on track. Speaking on the title challenge, Lando Norris reckoned that he had two other guys right on his tail who were very fast and made his life tough all year round.

Norris recalled that since the first race in Australia, he was aware that Piastri would be the toughest guy to beat on track. Moreover, Max Verstappen achieved a dramatic comeback from a point deficit of 104 points to just two points at the end of the season, as he could never be counted out.

I had two other guys who were pretty freaking fast and certainly made my life tough this year, Oscar the whole way since round one, I knew he was probably going to be the toughest guy to beat and then you can never count out Max, he’s Max.

Lando Norris noted.

The 2026 season with new regulations is right around the corner, and McLaren will certainly hope to keep up with their dominant pace of the 2025 season. For now, Oscar Piastri will enjoy the off-season and hope to come back as an even more dominant force. The Aussie will now be hungrier for the title win and will not listen to team orders anymore to win his own title.
