Lando Norris showcased an impressive drive at the Azerbaijan GP after gaining 13 places and finishing in P4. However, a penultimate lap collision between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz caused the race to finish under a VSC. Amidst this, Norris was spotted tattling Max Verstappen‘s overtake after the culmination of the race.

Lando Norris received a lot of backlash on social media following his complaints about Max Verstappen‘s potential VSC infringement. Norris has shared his side of the story following the incident. The Briton believed that he wasn’t directly ‘complaining’ about anything. Instead, the 24-year-old was just trying to state the facts to his team and potentially FIA.

During the qualifying session, Norris suffered from a similar issue where he had to abandon his final fast lap due to yellow flags. Hence, he brought the Verstappen case to everyone’s attention as he saw a VSC light on his dashboard. Subsequently, the Briton claimed that during such an incident, no overtaking is allowed due to people being on track.

I just had VSC on my dash with yellow lights, similar to what I had yesterday, obviously there was a crash, there was paramedics on-track, things like that, which normally means no overtaking.

Max Verstappen was ‘surprised’ to witness Lando Norris complain on team radio

Max Verstappen had to chime in and provide his side of the story following Lando Norris’ complaints on the team radio. Verstappen reckoned that he didn’t overtake under the VSC and only did it after crossing the finish line. Additionally, the Dutchman recalled past instances in this season where people did exactly the same. Hence, the 26-year-old was surprised after witnessing the entire scenario.

I didn’t pass under the Virtual Safety Car, we crossed the line, the race is finished, and there are a lot of examples in the past, this year as well, when we have done exactly the same thing. So for me I’m a bit surprised.
