McLaren’s Lando Norris seemed to be the talk of the town after his controversial clash with Oscar Piastri at the Singapore GP. The Briton made a daring move on Lap 1 and was not penalized for it. However, Piastri wasn’t too happy with the contact and said some questionable things on the team radio. Now, regardless of the events that unfolded in the past weeks, Norris has accepted that he will face some repercussions for his actions.
Following his daring move at the Singapore GP, Lando Norris managed to reduce the point deficit between him and championship leader Oscar Piastri to 22 points. Piastri said some things in the heat of the moment, but has likely cooled down since and regrets his words. Now, with just six races left in the season, McLaren is likely to reconsider its stance on team orders and ensure that it prioritizes either of the drivers.
Lando Norris recalled the events of the Singapore GP and how he changed his thoughts in the championship battle following that race. Norris accepted that he couldn’t afford to make contact with Oscar Piastri and have moments like he did last race weekend.
Lando Norris revealed that the entire incident of the Singapore GP was reviewed and that there would definitely be some repercussions for him until the end of the season. Norris pointed out that he did not get away with anything, and his incident on Sunday was dealt with severity by the team. The Briton recalled that the incident was small and there was potential to avoid it, and hence it wasn’t taken any more seriously than required.
Things were reviewed and there are and will be repercussions for me until the end of the season. It’s not like I’ve got away with anything, but it was also an incident that was small and there was potential to try and avoid it.

Lando Norris claims he ‘can’t afford’ to make such mistakes anymore
McLaren achieved their second consecutive driver’s title following a dominant outing since the beginning of the 2025 season. However, the driver’s title is a completely different story and far from over. As Lando Norris aims to bridge the 22-point deficit to his Aussie counterpart, he revealed that he couldn’t make such mistakes anymore and keep his performance clean and flawless.

Lando Norris noted that he put his entire championship ambitions at risk following such daring moves, going the wrong way. Norris accepted that he would face repercussions for his actions on the track at the Singapore GP, but it was all understandable.
Regardless of the incident, the Briton asserted that engaging with his teammate on the track and racing hard against him would remain the same as it had always been. As such, the grid will likely witness some respectful racing action between the two drivers of the Papaya Squad.
I said after the race, I can’t afford to make contact and have anything happen like what happened because I put just as much risk on my whole championship from something going wrong as I do on whoever I might be racing against. Of course, repercussions for myself but otherwise the engagement and how we go racing is the same as it’s always been.

Certainly, it would be very exciting to witness a long-fought battle for the title between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, as it is the very essence of the sport. Moreover, with Max Verstappen seemingly joining the mix for the title, it will definitely shake things up for McLaren, and they would have to help either Norris or Piastri in the title battle against the in-form reigning world champion.
