Lando Norris has faced a lot of challenges early on in his championship ambitions for the 2025 season. The Briton, despite having the fastest challenger with McLaren, is struggling to keep up with Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen. The 25-year-old is currently trailing the title by 16 points and seems unable to bridge the gap to his teammate. But Norris is getting special aide from an ex-F1 champion on his championship chase.

The 2025 season has peaked in competition at the forefront, especially between the two McLaren teammates. Lando Norris is struggling to keep up with Oscar Piastri’s superior pace after struggling to manage the issues of the chassis in the best way possible. Norris has shockingly revealed that his secret aide in his fight for the championship is Sebastian Vettel.

He asserted that he is on great terms with the four-time champion and talks with him quite frequently. Sebastian Vettel possessed great skills and talent that helped him achieve excellence in Formula 1. The Briton reveals that Vettel is particularly helping him know more about the off-track stuff that would help the former reach that one level above in terms of performance.

Norris is now confident that he knows more about the off-track stuff that goes on to help a driver become a world champion. The 25-year-old is still improving and accepts that he still has a long way to go.

Regardless, receiving bits of advice and aid from Sebastian Vettel is a great asset that cannot be taken lightly. The Briton is highly likely to improve his performances by multiple fold if he religiously follows Vettel’s feedback on points of improvement.

Seb often texts me about these kinds of things. Being a racing driver is not just about driving the car. There’s many other factors to it, and over the last few months, and then the last year, I’ve learned more about the off-track stuff, on how to improve it, but I’m always open for opportunities to improve even more.

Lando Norris told Sky Sports F1.

Lando Norris blatantly accepts being ‘not fast enough’

McLaren has remained the team to beat this season due to their highly superior challenger development. The two Papaya drivers finished in one-two with a massive lead of over 35 seconds to the third driver in the recent Miami GP.

However, Norris lost his position at the beginning of the race and ceded loss against Oscar Piastri. The 25-year-old, who is known to be too critical of his own mistakes, has made some brutal comments on his performance this season despite having the fastest car.

Lando Norris had pointed out that he faces multiple issues with McLaren’s challenger this year. Norris didn’t hesitate to acknowledge that he simply hasn’t been quick enough this year to deserve the championship lead early on.

The 25-year-old added that while McLaren is doing a great job on the car and strategies, he is struggling to give it his all and improve. Finally, the Briton insisted that he shouldn’t share much of his pessimistic thinking with the public, who would only bring him down even more.

I’m just not quick enough. The team are doing a great job, but I’m not. Maybe I shouldn’t share as many things as I do. I’m just honest. You ask me a question, and I’m honest in my answer.

Norris will now attempt to combine all the newly gained knowledge and focus on converting it to better results on the track. Despite consistent efforts, he seems to be unable to replicate his race-winning performances this year. Piastri remains a serious threat to the 25-year-old’s championship ambitions as the former is ready to race his teammate hard this season.
