Lando Norris has become the most talked-about driver after he won the Dutch GP by a massive 22-second gap over Max Verstappen. Norris had a bad start, which allowed Verstappen to take the lead, but he regained the lead later. Despite winning with such a huge margin, the Briton is not focused on the 2024 title.
Lando Norris explained that he had been fighting for the championship since the first race of the season. It wasn’t a sudden decision that he now needs to be better to fight for the championship. Despite all his efforts, he is still trailing 70 points behind Max Verstappen. This highlights that he has a lot of work ahead of him. He needed to win as many races as possible and ensure Verstappen does not score more points than he does.
I've been fighting for the championship since the first race of the year. There's no sudden decision now I need to do better. I've been working hard the whole year and I'm still 70 points behind Max.Lando Norris said, as reported by Autosport
Lando Norris mentioned that it’s not very helpful to think about the title right now. He needs to focus on each race one by one and continue with his current approach for better results. He prefers to concentrate on his performance in each race and stick to his current strategies. This way, he can stay focused and not get distracted by worrying about what might happen later on.
So it's pretty stupid to think of anything at the minute. I just take one race at a time and just keep doing what I'm doing now because there's no point in thinking ahead and thinking of the rest.Lando Norris added
Lando Norris focused on ‘one race at a time’
Lando Norris explained that he isn’t worried about the championship at the moment. Instead, he is focusing on performing well in each individual race. He felt there’s no need for people to ask him about the title race every weekend. He believed it’s more important to stay focused on each race rather than getting distracted by questions about the overall championship.
I don't care about it at the minute. I'm just focused on one race at a time, so it's not a question that I need to get asked every single weekend.Lando Norris stated.
Certainly, Norris focused on winning every race possible and not on the championship. He felt it was too early to think about the title since he was still 70 points behind the leader. Therefore, he expected the media to ask fewer questions about the title in the upcoming races.
