Ex-F1 driver feels Max Verstappen’s move to Mercedes is imminent
While Hamilton is moving to Ferrari in 2025, the Ex-F1 driver, Robert Doornbos has shared his thoughts regarding the rumors surrounding Max Verstappen‘s move to Mercedes. Doornbos feels the Dutch driver will make the switch to join the Silver Arrows around 2026.
I still believe he will go to Mercedes. We talk about 2026, because it’s important to be with the team with the best engine. But I think Mercedes would rather have it happen in 2025, because then they can wave goodbye to one World Champion and welcome another World Champion.Robert Doornbos told Motorsport
The new FIA regulations are set to take effect in 2026, which lay down some serious changes in design and power units for the teams racing in Formula 1. Several drivers are reportedly searching to attain contracts with the best teams to improve their chances on the grid from 2026 onwards.
Doornbos has therefore pitted Max Verstappen to move to Mercedes in light of their recent performance advancements. But all ideas and rumors still remain mere speculation as Verstappen, just some ago, pledged his loyalty to Red Bull for the coming years.
