Future Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton faced a close call during the FP2 session at Baku. Hamilton unknowingly impeded Leclerc, who was on a flying lap during the practice session.
Lewis Hamilton has signed a multi-year deal with the Maranello-based team from 2025 onwards, departing Mercedes after 12 glorious years with them. Hamilton has often conveyed his excitement about joining Charles Leclerc, who has also been praised highly by the former.
The 39-year-old instantly apologized to Leclerc by gesturing from his car after mistakenly impeding the latter in FP2. All appears to be well between the two as the Monegasque gracefully accepted Hamilton’s honesty.

Leclerc arrives at Baku looking to build on his encouraging run of form over the past few races. Hamilton, on the other hand, will seek to deliver better results after lackluster performances in Zandvoort and Monza.
Mercedes chief backs Lewis Hamilton in light of poor qualifying spell this season
Mercedes Technical Director James Allison has analyzed the reasons behind Lewis Hamilton’s lackluster form in qualifying this campaign. Hamilton started on pole during the 2023 Hungarian GP and has failed to do so ever since.
Lewis has, not by accident, been the best qualifier in the history of the sport, because I think he's been the best driver in the sport, but he's struggling to make it stick this year by fine margins. The current car-tyre combo, not just us, across the pit lane, it doesn't like being hustled - you almost get the best lap times when you're not trying.James Allison via SkySportsF1
Allison has deemed the seven-time world champion as one of the best qualifiers in the history of Formula 1. Allison further claimed that the W15 has been struggling to maintain a proper correlation between the car and the tire.
Hamilton finished in the top three positions in FP1 and FP2 on Friday at Baku, which is a positive sign for him this weekend. He will try his best to hold on to his pace in order to notch a better start during the Azerbaijan GP on Sunday.
