Lewis Hamilton‘s time with Mercedes is up after racing with the team for over 12 years in Formula 1. The Briton experienced moments of extreme highs and lows in the sport with Brackley. As a result, Hamilton’s final Mercedes race in Abu Dhabi was an extremely emotional affair for the megastar.

Lewis Hamilton‘s Abu Dhabi GP weekend was off to a terrible start after he faced an early elimination from the Q1 qualifying session. The 39-year-old had little to no hopes of contending for a good amount of points. However, Hamilton showcased a stellar drive and overtook George Russell in the last lap to finish in P4. The Briton downplayed just how emotional the farewell would be with Mercedes in Formula 1.

Hamilton even took to the team radio and bid an emotional farewell to his team recalling all the past moments. Hence, following the culmination of the race, the Briton didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to do some donuts for one last time as a Silver Arrow. The 39-year-old did multiple donuts with the governing body even preparing a special spot for the Ferrari-bound driver on the track.

Lewis Hamilton has enjoyed some highly dominant performances in the past with Mercedes. The Briton has broken multiple records by racing solely with Brackley. First and foremost, the 39-year-old won six world championships with the German carmaker and equaled the record of the legend Michael Schumacher. Moreover, Hamilton ran over 246 races with Mercedes over 12 years.

Apart from the championships, Hamilton also helped the team win eight constructors’ championships. The 39-year-old further scored over 78 pole positions and 153 podium finishes with the team. Finally, the Briton won 84 races with Brackley over the years out of a total of 105 career race wins.

Hamilton will truly go down in history as one of the best drivers at Mercedes if not in Formula 1. The Briton kept up with performances throughout his career despite facing moments of extreme lows. The seven-time world champion never gave up on trying to improve and amassed monumental records. Hence, bigger things are awaiting the Mercedes star as he makes his way to Ferrari from 2025 onwards.
