The 2025 season of Formula 1 is currently peaking in terms of competition for the driver’s title. For the first time in the ground-effect era, the battle for the title is so close. Lando Norris is leading the campaign with Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen trailing in close second and third. With just three races to go, Piastri is facing some problems in terms of performance. As such, Lewis Hamilton‘s former teammate and upcoming Cadillac driver, Valtteri Bottas, provides some words of affirmation to the Aussie.
Oscar Piastri is the driver who has everything to lose right now as he is trailing the driver’s title lead to Lando Norris. McLaren is currently being accused of a British bias. Though Piastri has refused these claims, he is still at a disadvantage against his Brit teammate. Now, Valtteri Bottas, who faced some similar conditions with Mercedes during his partnership with Lewis Hamilton, has spoken on the matter.
Although Lewis Hamilton was extremely delighted with Valtteri Bottas as a teammate, claiming that he was the best teammate a driver could ask for, the former still had his moments of grief. The honorary Australian citizen provided some comfort to Oscar Piastri during his plight at McLaren. Bottas insisted that he had been in a similar situation as Piastri back in the day.
Valtteri Bottas further laughed and reiterated that he had been in Oscar Piastri’s shoes before. Bottas explained that Formula 1 was definitely a tough and unfair sport. The Finn continued that Piastri still had a very bright and long future ahead of him, and he need not be disappointed even if he loses the driver’s title in the 2025 season. The upcoming Cadillac driver noted that the Aussie just needed to have some patience and give it his all in the final races.
I’ve been there, Been there, mate (laughs). It’s a tough sport. It’s not a fair sport. Sometimes you just deal with it, and Oscar, you’ve still got so much time ahead of him, a great career ahead of him. Sometimes you also need patience.

Valtteri Bottas ‘still rooting’ for Oscar Piastri to win 2025 F1 title
Despite his woeful form in recent races, Oscar Piastri is just 25 points adrift of the title lead to Lando Norris. Although this gap seems difficult to cover in just three races, the Aussie can definitely do so if Norris suffers from even one poor weekend. Now, amid the preparations for the upcoming races, Valtteri Bottas showed his full support for the 24-year-old to win the driver’s title this year.

Valtteri Bottas simply mentioned that he was rooting for Oscar Piastri to win the driver’s title in the 2025 season despite the current circumstances. Bottas confidently mentioned that the Aussie still had a chance to emerge victorious in the title battle and win his first coveted championship title.
