Lewis Hamilton is delighted to see Valtteri Bottas thriving after Mercedes exit
Valtteri Bottas was always the sensational wingman to Lewis Hamilton in his five-year stint at Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas
When Lewis Hamilton was questioned about the level of comfort being displayed by Valtteri Bottas, he stated that he was thrilled to see that Bottas was happy and displaying a more relaxed demeanor. The pair maintained a healthy relationship at Mercedes, and their friendship persisted. The Finnish driver made headlines recently for his appearance at the pre-weekend press conferences in a tank top, shorts, and a pair of flip-flops.
Lewis said, “It’s great to see him flourish and feeling more and more a part of himself and knowing where he wants to go. I think probably the same applies to everyone here, all of us work so hard, we’re all travelling so much, we’re all away from our families and friends so much that we’re missing out on a lot of things.”
Sir Lewis also shared the philosophy he believes in, by stating, “Make sure you find something that you love, whether it’s taking a language course or playing an instrument or playing football, whatever it may be”. He also wished his former teammate the very best- “It’s cool that he’s got his things that he’s doing, I wish him all the best with it.”
Valtteri Bottas is enjoying a laid-back life in 2023
Valtteri Bottas revealed earlier this year, his struggle with keeping fit in his initial years in Formula One, courtesy of an eating disorder. He described optimal fitness to be an “obsession”. Be that as it may, Bottas has definitely grown more comfortable, and he doesn’t hesitate to show it.
At the Australian Grand Prix last weekend, he promoted a Gin brand he is investing in, along with his partner. He embraced Australian culture by showing up to media interviews in a tank top and shorts. When inquired on this, he said, “I think that as a rookie, I wouldn’t have come to the paddock with flip-flops and so on. Now it’s a bit easier to set up things, and I don’t take myself too serious, so it definitively changes with time.”
He displayed his comfort in himself and his mannerisms by stating, “In this sport, as a rookie, you have to go through the system, you’re almost educated on how to behave, how to brand yourself and so on, but then comes the point of ‘this is who I am, deal with it.”
Valtteri has clearly established his comfort and personal life as a priority, showing there’s more to his life than racing. However, despite his laid-back demeanor off track, Bottas remains a fierce competitor on it and will continue to fight for points after just missing out at Albert Park.
