The Lewis Hamilton-produced F1 film, which is set to hit theatres soon, has continued to gain traction ever since the first private screening for the drivers. The movie, made on a reported massive budget of over $400 million, is likely to bring in a fresh wave of audiences unfamiliar with the sport. Now, as the international release of the film, set for 25th June, with the American release two days later, nears, talks have already started about a sequel to the main movie.
The F1 film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris was met with great enthusiasm from the people of the sport, as Lewis Hamilton played a major role in the realism part of the filming. The movie is set to be as close as possible to the pinnacle of motorsport. The film will cover various racing destinations with a fictional story tied to the APXGP team. However, there were a few tracks that hadn’t been visited by the filming crew.
As such, one of the lead producers of the film, Jerry Bruckheimer, who also produced Top Gun: Maverick as well, has shared his thoughts on a potential sequel to the movie. Following the massive fan and celebrity turnout at the film’s official premiere at New York’s Times Square, even Bruckheimer doesn’t hesitate to acknowledge the massive support for the movie.
Bruckheimer joked that if people talked him up a lot about a sequel to the movie, he wouldn’t mind giving it a fair shot. The Hollywood icon noted that the crew would figure out a second movie, despite the story being hard to create. The 81-year-old further highlighted that he would love to visit the Australian circuit in Melbourne and potentially start the next film from there, as it is also a massive fan favorite track.
That’s up to you. If you talk us up, a lot of people come see it, we’ll figure out how to make another one. Melbourne’s a track that we didn’t get to go to that I would – I’d love to, because I know it’s a favourite for a lot of the drivers. So that would be a great way to kick off a sequel.
