Lewis Hamilton has made a bold move this year. The British star has ditched Mercedes after over a decade to join Scuderia Ferrari. Now, the seven-time world champion has confessed that this transfer does have some risk.
Hamilton emphasized that every new opportunity is a leap of faith with his switch to Maranello being no different. The 40-year-old highlighted that no one can really predict when they might change jobs, or in his case, changing teams. The F1 icon asserted that this move did have an element of risk.
However, Lewis Hamilton had a different mindset over his switch to the Scuderia. He claimed that there was a higher risk for him to become complacent if he continued at Mercedes. The seven-time world champion had grown increasingly frustrated at Brackley in recent months.
Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move driven by ‘instinct’
The Briton reckoned that he knew signing with Ferrari was the right decision at this stage of his career, calling it a gut feeling or instinct. Lewis Hamilton mentioned that joining the Italian team was the challenge he really needed. It seems that the seven-time world champion has been rejuvenated since arriving at Maranello.
Lewis Hamilton has high ambitions for the new chapter in his career. The 40-year-old hopes to take the Prancing Horse back to its glory days in Formula 1. Though, this will remain an uphill task unless Ferrari has made some major inroads in car development over the winter break.
