Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula 1. The Briton has gained massive popularity in multiple regions of the world, especially America following his performances. Hamilton has also achieved the honor of being knighted in 2021 by the Prince of Wales and made his mark in the political world. Hence, ahead of the 2024 US GP, the seven-time world champion was surprised to find out about American politician Kamala Harris‘s interest in him.
Kamala Harris, the candidate for the President of the United States, was recently spotted talking about Formula 1. Harris had claimed that she was a massive fan of the sport with Lewis Hamilton being her favorite driver. Speaking upon this surprising fact, Hamilton reckoned that he was pleasantly surprised to hear this. The 39-year-old highlighted that he was unaware of the politician being such a big fan of him.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear that, I didn’t know that she was a fan.

Hamilton also wondered about the possibility of other politicians being interested in Formula 1. The Briton labeled this feeling as ‘very surreal’ and further questioned the possibility of the White House watching the Grand Prix’s. Hence, it is safe to assume that Formula 1 is truly the pinnacle of motorsport after such big names took immense interest in it.
Just very surreal…, kinda crazy that maybe in the white house they’ll be watching Grand Prix’s.
Lewis Hamilton added
'Big fan of Formula 1 and my favourite driver is Lewis Hamilton' said Kamala Harris, just a feeling about that?

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen will face off for the seventh victory on American soil
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have performed at a similar level in the past few seasons. Both drivers have achieved an impressive total of six race wins on American soil in Formula 1. However, the upcoming US GP is one of the more important events as both of them can achieve a massive feat.

As per GPBlog, if either of the drivers emerges victorious at COTA, they will achieve the record for most wins on American soil. Additionally, the upcoming Las Vegas GP would further provide both drivers with another chance at overcoming one another if they fail to win in Austin, Texas.
However, amidst Red Bull’s declining pace, Verstappen is highly unlikely to win by a big margin in America. Additionally, McLaren’s dominant pace is likely to deny Mercedes and Hamilton a chance to win the race. Regardless, both the drivers will push extra hard to achieve the feat in Formula 1.
