Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time F1 champion and is regarded as the greatest driver of his generation. With him having such huge accolades in the field of racing, fans expect that the Brit would be constantly adding supercars to his massive car collection.

However, in stark contrast to such expectations, Hamilton revealed that ever since he purchased the Mercedes AMG Project One, he has not bought another supercar due to their ever-increasing similar characteristics.

As the 39-year-old was with Mercedes in F1 when the AMG Project One car was being developed, Lewis Hamilton was one of the three F1 drivers who got the elusive car. It had a massive price tag and ever since he bought it, his desire to buy more supercars has disappeared amidst current market trends.

The last car I bought was an AMG One, but it’s also my last supercar for the time being. I’d rather spend my money on art now. I’m always discovering new artists, especially great black artists. Of course, I still enjoy looking at road cars. But modern cars all look a bit the same. It’s a bit sad. I prefer classic cars in terms of sound and emotion.

Hamilton’s statement takes a jibe at the automobile industry. Multiple competitors are producing similar style cars, which has led to the loss of identity in such cars.

Toto Wolff explains what sets Lewis Hamilton apart from other drivers

While the partnership between Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton is bound to end soon, team principal Toto Wolff has not shied away from praising the 39-year-old. Moreover, he commended the seven-time F1 champion’s talent despite facing discrimination in his early days of racing.

Lewis uses adversity and channels it into performance. That combined all of the skills – the genes, the talent, the nature, nurturing from his father in the early years, hard work ethic, intelligence, no fear attitude, constant development of himself. I would have words for a minute more if I were to think about it, because he’s a 7x world champions and won God knows how many races. In that respect there hasn’t been anyone like this.

Toto Wolff said

Though Hamilton’s junior career saw him face a lot of discrimination, he was able to get through such challenges and cement his name in the motorsport world. Moreover, his ability to compete is still present, as we saw in the two races he won this year despite being considered to be past his prime.

With the last triple-header in his sights, Hamilton would be hoping to get another strong result under his belt before bidding adieu to Mercedes. However, the fight is expected to remain among the top three teams, which could make getting a podium finish difficult for the Englishman in the woeful W15.
