Max Verstappen had been trying extremely hard to overtake Lewis Hamilton for the podium finish at the Hungarian GP. The Dutchman has struggled in the RB20 chassis all through the weekend.
The 26-year-old didn’t back down from fighting until the end for the podium finish. However, Verstappen couldn’t control the chassis towards the end and collided with Hamilton.
Max Verstappen had previously claimed that he wouldn’t back down from fighting after achieving a P3 start for the race. The Dutchman was furious and showcased his anger on the team radio throughout the Hungarian GP. However, towards the final ten laps, the 26-year-old had an easy overtake on Lewis Hamilton for the podium finish.
Verstappen collided with Hamilton by the 63rd lap of the Hungarian GP and caused the rear of the chassis to rise a bit. The Dutchman immediately controlled his car and saved himself from crashing. However, the damage was done as he immediately fell down the pecking order and succumbed to a P5 finish in Hungary.

Max Verstappen claimed he was trying to ‘rescue whatever was left’ from the strategy
Red Bull had tried to provide Max Verstappen with the best setup possible for the Hungarian GP victory. Regardless, the Dutchman was pushing the chassis extremely hard and had to face some issues at some point. As a result, he was furious over the team blaming him for screwing up the podium finish at the Hungaroring.
Verstappen noted that the team didn’t need to give him any issues over pushing the chassis extra hard as he was trying to score the best results possible from the botched strategy.
Don't come with that **** on me! You gave me this ***** strategy, okay? I'm trying to rescue what's left. *****Max Verstappen said on team-radio.
