However, the damage was done as he immediately fell down the pecking order and succumbed to a P5 finish in Hungary.

Max Verstappen claimed he was trying to ‘rescue whatever was left’ from the strategy

Red Bull had tried to provide Max Verstappen with the best setup possible for the Hungarian GP victory. Regardless, the Dutchman was pushing the chassis extremely hard and had to face some issues at some point. As a result, he was furious over the team blaming him for screwing up the podium finish at the Hungaroring.

Verstappen noted that the team didn’t need to give him any issues over pushing the chassis extra hard as he was trying to score the best results possible from the botched strategy.

Don't come with that **** on me! You gave me this ***** strategy, okay? I'm trying to rescue what's left. *****
Max Verstappen said on team-radio.

Red Bull is coming extremely close to its rivals in the championship after facing extreme struggles in performance. The Dutchman has continued to attempt to score impressive results despite the struggling pace. Hence, the post-race briefing will be extremely interesting to witness what the team does with the problems faced in Hungary today.
