Lewis Hamilton is competing in his final F1 season with Mercedes. The seven-time world champion will leave Brackley after over a decade at the end of the 2024. However, this year has not been easy for the Briton as the Silver Arrows have had a rollercoaster of a campaign.

Hamilton admitted that the 2024 season has been very turbulent for Mercedes. The 39-year-old has struggled in Qualifying for the majority of the year. Although, Lewis Hamilton managed to finally end his 945-day long winless streak at the Silverstone GP earlier this season.

It’s been a very turbulent year, I think.

The British driver highlighted that the Silver Arrows always headed into a race weekend with confidence. The seven-time world champion pointed out that the car has shown glimpses of hope throughout the year. Unfortunately, things have kept swinging for Mercedes for various reasons, be it the tires or the aero.

We always arrive with confidence, with a positive attitude but the car – there’s glimpses of hope and then things swing back and forth. Whether it’s tyres, whether it’s the aero, so you never know what you’re gonna get.

Mercedes showed promising pace in the ending stages of the Mexican GP last weekend. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell managed to maintain a healthy lead from reigning world champion Max Verstappen. Hamilton noted that the race was positive for the team. Now, the 39-year-old hopes to capitalize on the car’s potential and extract more pace this weekend in Interlagos.

The last race was really positive for us in terms of the end result – there’s definitely potential within the car and we’re always just looking to fine tune it and hope that we can extract more from it.

Lewis Hamilton added

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton aims to have a decent weekend in Brazil. The seven-time world champion is an honorary citizen of the Latin American nation and receives a grand welcome every year. However, it remains to be seen if Hamilton and Mercedes can be in the mix for victory on Sunday.
