Lewis Hamilton had a poor start to the 2024 F1 season. Mercedes’ struggles in the ground-effect era continued as the Silver Arrows fell behind the likes of Ferrari and McLaren. Hamilton praised the Brackley-based team for upgrades brought in for the Monaco GP.

The seven-time world champion crossed the chequered flag in P7 behind arch-rival Max Verstappen. Despite an uneventful race, Lewis Hamilton claimed that the Monaco GP was an encouraging weekend for Mercedes as the upgrades showed performance gains. Hamilton mentioned that it was positive to see the team working hard back at Brackley.

The signs of performance this weekend have been encouraging and, three races in a row now we’ve brought upgrades. People back at the factory have been working so hard, so that’s really positive to see.

Moreover, Lewis Hamilton hoped that he could receive the new spec front wing in the next race. Presently, only George Russell has the new wing. The seven-time world champion claimed that all was not lost for the team as it continued to bring in updates.

I know the next race I’ll hopefully have the new front wing as well and we’ll have hopefully more bits coming over the next few races so… All is not lost.

Lewis Hamilton apologized on the team radio post-race. The seven-time world champion admitted that he failed to bring in many points for the Silver Arrows. However, Hamilton applauded the team’s continuous efforts in trying to get back to the front of the grid.

I’m sorry we didn’t get up to any great points today but we got a pretty great effort, thank you to everyone back at home for bringing the upgrades. I really appreciate the hard work over the last few weeks. Thank you.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton remained positive after the Monaco GP. The 39-year-old hopes that Mercedes will continue to improve in the coming races. Perhaps, the seven-time world champion could fight for a podium in a few weeks time if the team can successfully extract more performance out of the W15.
