Lewis Hamilton admits ‘pretty s**t’ weekend in Austria after teammate George Russell wins the race

The Austrian GP ended up with a surprising victory for George Russell over Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Lewis Hamilton congratulated and clapped for teammate George Russell on his first win of the season.
At the post race conference Lewis Hamilton was asked about the race in Austria, he explained that the race was pretty shocking for him and also for everyone. Despite the surprising moment, he felt very happy for teammate George Russell on his first win of the season. Hamilton highlighted the hard work put in by everyone at the factory throughout the year had paid off with a good result in the race. He congratulated team as a whole and specifically mentioned Russell for his achievement.

Lewis Hamilton was disappointed by his own performance despite securing fourth place. The Briton stated that he was too slow from the start of the race to the end . The weekend was tough for the seven-time world champion as he performed below expectations despite putting a lot of effort. He described himself as pretty s**t.

Toto Wolff claimed Lewis Hamilton will win a race in 2024
Toto Wolff‘s statement about Lewis Hamilton reflected that it was challenging for any racing driver when they go through a rough patch. Wolff explained if the driver is not able to perform at his highest level it can really message the confidence and mindset of a driver. He added that for someone like Hamilton who’s been at the top for many years facing difficulties must be very frustrating.

Toto Wolff claimed that Hamilton highlighted importance of confidence in a driver. Wolff believed that Hamilton will need to push through his current challenges. He reassured that the Briton hadn’t forgotten how to drive. In fact, he was still an excellent driver on the grid. The Mercedes team boss mentioned, the seven-time world champion had an excellent race in Barcelona which showed his true skill. The Austrian billionaire was confident that if they kept working hard and stayed focused, they would win a race with Hamilton in 2024 for sure.

Certainly, Toto Wolff expressed Hamilton’s performance was bad compared to his last race, but he needed to push from all this and work more harder. He believed he can win race in 2024 with Hamilton. However, Wolff was very pleased watching Russell clinch his first victory of the season with Mercedes.
