RB has parted ways with Daniel Ricciardo and replaced him with Liam Lawson for the remainder of the 2024 season. Ricciardo’s 14-year career in Formula 1 concluded on a disappointing note, scoring only 12 points this season. After his departure was made official, he shared a heartfelt farewell post on social media and expressed gratitude to the sport and his fellow drivers.
Many drivers, including his former rival Lewis Hamilton, commented on his post, expressing love and wishing him the best for his future endeavors. Hamilton also shared a post where he shared a few snapshots involving him and Daniel Ricciardo.
Hamilton said that he was honored to race against the Australian during his time in F1. He fondly recalled their exciting battles on the track, the laughter they shared. The Briton also recalled Ricciardo’s iconic celebration of drinking from his shoe after a victory. Although Hamilton found the act gross, he appreciated the opportunity to share that moment with the Honey Badger.
