Lewis Hamilton suffered from multiple controversial situations at the recent Mexican GP. The Briton was hit with a brutal ten-second penalty following his antics on track. However, Hamilton firmly believed that he wasn’t in the wrong and did not need such a big penalty. The 40-year-old criticized the FIA for such awkward penalties, after he wasn’t given clarity on these decisions. Now, the seven-time champion calls for transparency and accountability from the sanctioning body.

Lewis Hamilton has always been a man of change, pushing for the better at every opportunity possible. The 40-year-old has also made some great strides in improving inclusivity and equality in the pinnacle of motorsport. Hamilton’s comments about the FIA’s antics at the Mexican GP definitely didn’t go unnoticed. He was not provided any clarification on the ten-second penalty call and the reasons behind why Max Verstappen wasn’t penalized.

Recalling the events and penalties of the Mexican GP, Lewis Hamilton clarified that he did not receive any sort of clarity from the FIA over the reasons behind the penalty call. Hamilton continued that the biggest problem was about transparency and accountability. The Briton noted that the decisions were made with utter secrecy, and this wasn’t really helpful for the drivers being hit with the penalty.

Not particularly, there isn’t any clarity, I think that’s probably part of the big issue of transparency and accountability, and also the secrecy of decisions made in the background.

Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Lewis Hamilton explained that this definitely needed to be tackled, and the way of penalizing drivers and not providing clarity had to be changed. Hamilton further sarcastically questioned if the FIA was aware that their decisions to penalize drivers could steer their careers theirs, and decide results for the championships, recalling the controversial 2021 championship loss to Max Verstappen. As such, he insisted that work needed to be done in this regard, and it needed to improve a lot.

It is something which definitely needs to be tackled and done in the background.  But I don’t know if they’re aware of the way that their decisions can ultimately steer careers, and can decide the results for the championship, as you’ve seen in the past. So some work needs to be done there.

Speaking on his current year and ambitions for the 2026 season, Lewis Hamilton noted that in the coming year, he will finally have a car at Ferrari in which he has given his input as well. As such, he hopes for a much better time in the coming season.

Further, Hamilton accepted his shortcomings in the 2025 season, but he reckoned that it was expected of him. The seven-time champion insisted that he was joining a new team with a completely new culture, and hence the struggles were expected.

I think next year is the year where it’ll be a car that I’ve had something to do with helping develop, so I’m hoping it’s a good year. It’s been a challenging year but it was to be expected from me, to be honest. I’m joining a new team, a new culture, and I’m well aware that progress takes time.

Lewis Hamilton said in an interview.

Certainly, the 2025 season will go down as one to forget for Lewis Hamilton despite his sensational debut with Ferrari. The Briton failed miserably in terms of results and did not achieve even a single podium finish. As such, the 40-year-old will hope to have a much better time in the upcoming season, one filled with victories and podium finishes ideally.
