Former Australian driver Mark Webber has applauded McLaren’s Oscar Piastri for his resilient efforts this season. Webber, who is also Piastri’s manager, has been a constant supporter of his fellow compatriot.
Oscar Piastri has evolved into a mature and competitive driver in only his second professional Formula 1 season. The Aussie has secured two wins and eight podiums so far this campaign. He has challenged championship winner Max Verstappen valiantly a fair few times this year.
Mark Webber has claimed that the 23-year-old has a long way to go, having raced in F1 for only 18 months. Webber believes that the Australian’s best attribute is his reserved nature, which makes him do the talking on track.
Piastri eyes the constructors’ championship for McLaren heading into the final race of the season. His main objective will therefore be to outscore the Ferraris around the Yas Marina circuit this weekend.
Andrea Stella believes in Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris to win the title in Abu Dhabi.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has vested his faith in McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri heading into the Abu Dhabi GP. The Woking-based team leads with only 21 points heading into the final race of the year.
Andrea Stella has praised his team’s brilliant turnaround over the past year or so. He has also applauded Lando Norris and Piastri for their selfless efforts this year. Stella is nevertheless wary that the final title battle will not be an easy one for the Papayas.
McLaren’s performance this weekend will set a tone for the developments of the upcoming season as well. While the teams and drivers fight for the win at Abu Dhabi, what remains promised is an action-packed finale for all.
