Lando Norris has found himself in contention for the F1 world champion for the first time in 2024. The British driver is competing against reigning world champion Max Verstappen. However, F1 presenter Martin Brundle reckons that Norris might’ve underestimated the Dutch driver.
Brundle recalled the Austrian GP, where Max Verstappen and Norris collided while battling wheel-to-wheel. The 65-year-old asserted that Lando Norris underestimated how aggressive the Dutch driver would be in such a tense situation.
Martin Brundle highlighted that the McLaren star has learnt his lesson from that incident. Although, the F1 presenter insisted that Norris was going to remain in the learning curve for some time. As the 24-year-old has only started to win races in Formula 1.
Martin Brundle insists Lando Norris has the ‘speed’ for 2024 title
The 65-year-old pointed out that Norris does have the speed to fight for the championship with McLaren giving him a good car. However, Martin Brundle claimed that it would be difficult to predict how the 24-year-old will react if he comes close to winning the title till that moment comes, be it this season or next.
Certainly, Lando Norris is focused on defeating Max Verstappen for the 2024 title. The British driver has shown consistency in recent races. Norris would be looking to reduce the gap to the Dutch driver in the standings at the US GP this weekend. However, it remains to be seen how things pan out for the McLaren star in Austin.
