After a difficult weekend at the Canadian GP, the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton managed to clinch the fourth place after battling neck to neck with Fernando Alonso and Oscar Piastri. Despite the Briton facing setbacks in Qualifying.

F1 presenter Martin Brundle explained that at the start of the race, Lewis Hamilton was driving fast and doing well catching up behind Fernando Alonso. The 39-year-old ended fourth and claimed it as one of the worst races of his career.

There was a point where Hamilton was absolutely flying and recovering nicely having been tucked up behind Alonso in the first phase of the race.

Further, Brundle described how he disagreed with the Briton’s statement. The F1 pundit claimed that Hamilton made small errors throughout the race here and there. However, Martin Brundle insisted that overall, the race for the seven-time champion was positive.

Lewis later described it as one of his worst drives, which wasn't apparent to me but maybe he was making a lot of small errors here and there.

Brundle added, that the young talents who have been exceptionally performing since the beginning of the season likely Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen are both fast and fearless and also have significant racing experience. This means Hamilton must perform at his best and show his ‘A game’ to compete with or surpass them.

The youngsters in front of him remain youthfully fast and fearless, but have a lot of experience too, and he'll always need his 'A game' to match or beat them now.

The 65-year-old observed that when Mercedes switched to dry tires during the race, the car displayed immense pace on track. This indicated that Mercedes had the potential to win the race based on speed, considering this opportunity George Russell managed to secure third position for the team.

The second takeaway is that once onto dry tires, Mercedes was the fastest car and could have won on sheer pace.

Mercedes has seen massive improvements in their car and driver after bringing the necessary upgrades, as for now new upgrades for the race event in Barcelona await. Lewis Hamilton has shown promising pace in recent races. However fans would love to see him on the podium for the upcoming races.
