Lewis Hamilton continues to be one of the winningest drivers on the Formula 1 grid due to his performances in the past. The Briton has been unable to recreate such dominant performances anymore despite scoring some highly coveted race wins. However, a move to Ferrari might just be what Hamilton needs as he could finally contend for the world championship.
F1 pundit Martin Brundle wasn’t mincing his words while discounting Lewis Hamilton‘s capabilities in performing at his peak. The Englishman pointed out the ‘plenty’ of people negating Hamilton’s capabilities now that the latter was older than his prime years. Brundle joined the same train of thought and reckoned that the seven-time world champion might be out his ‘absolute peak’.
Plenty of people [are saying], ‘Is Lewis over the hill?’ Is his peak ahead of him or behind him? His absolute peak, it might be behind him as he turns 40 in January.
Martin Brundle told Sky Sports F1.
Lewis Hamilton has still achieved the dream of almost every Formula 1 driver, that is to race for Ferrari. Hence, the 39-year-old might return back to his glory days in the pinnacle of motorsport alongside the Italian constructor. Brundle highlighted that even ‘98%’ of Hamilton in a race-winning Ferrari would be good enough. The 65-year-old suggested that the Briton might get some new energy at Maranello as well.
But, 98 per cent of Lewis Hamilton in a race-winning Ferrari will win races, and maybe, you know, he’ll get some new energy there as well.

David Coulthard labeled Lewis Hamilton as the ‘biggest disappointment’
Lewis Hamilton ended his almost 1,000-day victory drought in the 2024 season by winning a race on his home soil. However, despite the seemingly upturning performances, Hamilton was outscored by George Russell for the second time in three years. As a result, Ex-Red Bull driver David Coulthard wasn’t too impressed with the Briton’s performance.
Coulthard pointed towards Hamilton to be the ‘biggest disappointment’ and accepted that it was a controversial pick. The Briton reckoned that he had never seen such performances from the 39-year-old in Formula 1. The 53-year-old further highlighted the seven-time world champion’s failure in qualifying sessions over the 2024 season.

I would still point to Lewis as the biggest disappointment. I know that’s controversial as he’s a seven-time World Champion and a real winning machine, but I’ve never seen this Lewis in Formula 1. He was beaten in qualifying, while the greats can always find speed somewhere to squeeze out a qualifying lap when it really matters.

Ferrari’s upturn in performance in the 2024 season is a highly motivating factor for Hamilton as he prepares for the move. The Briton will have to get acquainted with the new crew at the Italian constructor in the 2025 season. Moreover, the team will have to get used to working under the influence of two highly dominant drivers.
