Max Verstappen became a father a few weeks ago. The Dutchman’s long-time girlfriend Kelly Piquet gave birth to an adorable daughter. The couple named her Lily. While fans have seen Lily Verstappen’s picture on social media, Verstappen has so far decided to keep her away from the media.
At the Hungarian GP, Max Verstappen was asked when his daughter would make her debut in the Formula 1 paddock. The reigning world champion gave a rather clear cut response. The 27-year-old made it clear that he was in no hurry to bring her newborn daughter to the grid.
The Red Bull star insisted that he wanted Lily Verstappen to get some good rest, especially during his early days as she is still just a couple of months old. So much so, Max Verstappen asserted that he didn’t really want her daughter in the Red Bull garage anytime soon.
My daughter? I don’t know. I’m actually not in a hurry with that either. You know, I just want her to have a little rest too. It’s not necessarily that I want her here.
Max Verstappen said during media day at Hungarian GP
While Verstappen might not want his daughter in the paddock, his girlfriend’s first daughter Penelope is often spotted in F1. Penelope and Max Verstappen share a beautiful bond, with the Dutchman often claiming that he has been her ‘bonus dad.’

Max Verstappen slams ‘soap opera’ jibe over F1 future rumors
For the past few months, there were constant reports that Max Verstappen wanted to leave Red Bull. It was believed that the reigning world champion was looking to move to Mercedes amid a dismal campaign at Milton Keynes. However, Verstappen has finally decided to put all such speculation to rest, confirming that he will race for Red Bull next season.

The Dutch driver was asked whether he felt that the entire fiasco turned into a soap opera. Max Verstappen asserted that he is not fond of operas. Rather, the 27-year-old simply wants to go racing, then have some time off during holidays, before going back home again. After all, Verstappen has just one passion, winning.
I never made an opera, I don’t like opera anyway so. I like to go on holiday, have a good time, come here and do my best, race Formula 1 cars and go home again!

Max Verstappen can now bring his focus back to the 2025 campaign as he has eliminated external noise over his future. The four-time world champion is having his worst season in half a decade as Red Bull struggles to match McLaren. However, Verstappen is still in the championship battle, albeit in a distant third place after Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The next few races will be crucial in deciding the 27-year-old’s prospects of defending the title.
