Max Verstappen has followed the footsteps of his father Jos Verstappen in the racing world. Since his karting days, the Red Bull star looked up to his father and hoped to make it to Formula 1. The 27-year-old has perhaps exceeded his own dreams with immense success at the pinnacle of motorsport. Though, there is one thing that Verstappen dreamt of doing since his early days.
Jos Verstappen was a decent driver in Formula 1. He even partnered with Michael Schumacher at Benetton. Though, the senior Verstappen could never reach the heights that his son has managed to do.
Max Verstappen claimed that he always wanted to go up against his father on-track. Back in his teenage days, he could measure his performance against Jos Verstappen, who was in his 30s. However, the reigning champion claimed that what he really wished was for him to be able to compete against his father in his prime during mid 20s. Unfortunately, such a scenario is simply not possible.
When I was a kid, I dreamed of racing against my dad. I was a bit lucky between the ages of 12 and 14: I was still learning, making progress, and he must have been in his late thirties. So I was able to really measure myself against him. But what would have been incredible, but obviously impossible, would have been for us both to compete at our best, when we were 27 or 28. that would be truly extraordinary.

Nevertheless, Max Verstappen’s bond with his father is truly special. The two have built a dream together and have been incredibly successful.

Max Verstappen hopes to do well in ‘long season ahead’
The Dutch driver dominated Formula 1 in recent years, winning four back-to-back world titles. However, 2025 has come as a reality check to Max Verstappen and Red Bull, with McLaren having an edge on Milton Keynes. This has put Verstappen in a tough spot as he battles it out against Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

After eight races, the Red Bull star has only bagged two victories and sits in third place in the standings. Max Verstappen admitted that ideally he would’ve wanted to have a massive lead like the past couple of seasons. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old understands that two-thirds of the season is still remaining and anything could happen. Thus, the reigning world champion is currently focused on simply improving his performances in the coming races.
I do prefer 50 points in the lead ofc that not the reality but its a very long season you want to do very well here but you also want to do well in Barcelona.

Certainly, Max Verstappen needs to bounce back. The 27-year-old must get a car that is capable of challenging McLaren at every track. If the Dutchman can be comfortable with the RB21, results will follow straightaway. Fans would be hoping that Red Bull is able to make some gains with its machinery to allow Verstappen to have a real shot at the title.
