For me, most important of course coming out of the weekend was just chatting with Lando and we did that immediately on Monday. He was upset with it, I was upset with it, that - as friends also - we got together fighting for the lead.
Max Verstappen said during an interview.

Max Verstappen claims he had a ‘good battle’ with Lando Norris at the Austrian GP despite crashing

Max Verstappen received a ten-second time penalty after pitting while Lando Norris had to retire from the race. Hence, the collision ruined the races of both drivers despite Verstappen finishing in P5. Regardless, Verstappen labeled the race as a ‘good battle’ with the Briton for the race lead. According to the 26-year-old, It was ‘unfortunate’ that there was a silly incident puncturing both the chassis’ tires.

But looking back at it we had a good battle. Unfortunately it was actually just a silly little touch that we had that gave us both a puncture and ruined the race.

Max Verstappen reckoned that it was a ‘shame’ that the two collided and brought a disappointing end to the race. Regardless, the two accepted that they had to continue to race hard as they liked it the most. As a result, Verstappen and Norris will continue to battle it out hard on the track despite suffering from a disappointing race end.

It was a shame but we also said to each other, ‘we have to race each other hard’ because that’s what we like to do – both of us – and that’s what we’ll continue to do.
Max Versatppen noted.

The competition between Verstappen and Norris could put forth a great rivalry for the 2024 season. Although the Briton is a bit lacking in the drivers’ standings, a few good races could reduce the deficit. Hence, the 2024 season will be extremely exciting for the fans of both side as this is the most amount of racing action since the ground-effect era.
