Max Verstappen achieved a stellar race win at the Las Vegas GP and is chipping away at the championship gap to Lando Norris. The Dutchman seemed to be out of contention following Norris’ victory at Brazil.

However, it’s not over until it’s over for Verstappen, as his recent win has helped him close down the point difference to 42 points. Though the winning chances are now slimmer than ever, the reigning world champion is still clinging to championship hopes for the 2025 season.

At one point in the 2025 season, Max Verstappen had given up on the championship chances, claiming that his results did not matter anymore. However, a dramatic performance resurgence following the summer break has helped Verstappen remain in contention for his fifth consecutive title. Now, the Las Vegas GP win proves that the 28-year-old is ready to give it his all in the final races.

Max Verstappen had previously asserted that he would take the season race by race, and he believes that this is still the correct approach. The Dutchman reckoned that he would see the entire picture clearly once the season finishes at Abu Dhabi.

Regardless of the title win, Verstappen was proud of Red Bull as they showcased resilience despite the massive ups and downs. The team also learned a lot this year, which will surely come in handy in the upcoming years.

I think that’s the better approach. It’s still a big gap. At the end of Abu Dhabi, we’ll see where we end up. But I’m very proud of everyone. We’ve had a really up and down season and tough times, but also really beautiful moments, and we learned a lot throughout the whole season, and that’s also very valuable for the upcoming years.

Max Verstappen said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Further, Max Verstappen believed that this hope was something that they had to cling onto atleast until the end of the 2025 season. Even if the Dutchman did not win the championship, the team would try to improve and come back even stronger next year.

Verstappen and Co. hope to put up a fight from the beginning of the year. Until then, the 28-year-old is enjoying his current state and is excited to see what the team brings up in the coming weekend.

So that’s something that we just have to cling on to. And just try to improve even more to even comeback stronger for next year, even to put up a fight from the start of the year in the championship. So we’re enjoying it now and then we’ll see next week what we can do again.

Max Verstappen reveals RB21 working “much more to my liking”

The Las Vegas GP was bound to be difficult for not only Max Verstappen but many other drivers. Lewis Hamilton suffered from one of the worst results in qualifying as he started the race from dead last. Meanwhile, Verstappen suffered from major grip issues in the sessions leading up to the race. Regardless, come race day, the RB21 performed much better and helped the Dutchman achieve a stellar race win.

Max Verstappen highlighted that on race day, the issues in the car seemed much more manageable as he could push just a little more. Verstappen was able to stay out longer and extend his stint, ultimately splitting the race into two halves. Moreover, the RB21 was working much better and to the Dutchman’s liking as he then built a great gap over Lando Norris in second.

Today it seemed like we had that a bit more under control, and I could push a little bit more and that just unlocked a bit more pace. I could stay out a bit longer and split the race basically in half. That definitely helped a lot. The car was working pretty well, much more to my liking. Then it was at the end, quite a decent gap. But yeah, we just every lap, just feeling comfortable and not taking too much out of the tyre.

Max Verstappen noted.

The 2025 season has just two races left on the calendar, with the Qatar GP up next. We are at the penultimate race of the season, but the driver’s title winner hasn’t been decided yet. This is the longest that the title battle has been dragged on in the ground effect era. As such, it will be interesting to witness if Max Verstappen manages a comeback in the title standings.
