Red Bull started the 2024 season with a huge advantage over its rivals and was on course to add another championship to its cabinet. However, as the season has progressed, they have hit a sudden slump in performance which has aided McLaren to overtake them. Witnessing the Woking-based squad’s resurgence, Max Verstappen admitted that winning around Singapore would be a miracle for the Austrian giant.

Max Verstappen has won seven Grand Prix in the 24-race calendar. Despite the Dutchman coming out as the most dominant driver, his lead has been shrinking in the driver’s standings, which has been accredited to Red Bull‘s downfall. On the other hand, McLaren and Ferrari have emerged as the leading contenders for victories in the last few races, leading to experts questioning Horner & Co. on their subpar handling of their situation.

Observing the RB20’s trends around bumpy tracks and his past record, Verstappen reflected on his chances of winning the Singapore GP.

Winning here, that would be a small miracle. After the past few years, I'm not going to say that I expect to win here and that I'll put it on pole position on Saturday.
Max Verstappen said in an interview

The reigning champion claimed that winning around the 5-kilometer street track would not be short of a miracle. Furthermore, he asserted that he does not envision putting the RB20 on pole during qualifying, so he has low expectations from the weekend.

Max Verstappen wishes Ferrari to do well around Singapore

Though F1 teams rarely wish well for their rivals, it is often affected by other factors at play. Similarly, the 26-year-old recently revealed that he envisions a great race for the scarlet duo, which could be understood by his current stance in the driver’s standings.

Verstappen revealed that he wants Ferrari to have a great race around Singapore, which could help the Austrian giant by snubbing away a few points from going in the direction of McLaren.

I hope so! For them, and myself.
Max Verstappen said in an interview with Telegraaf

Ferrari emerged victorious at the hands of Carlos Sainz the previous year. Moreover, Charles Leclerc topped the FP1 session with the Spaniard following close suit. So there is a high probability that the Scuderia will have a great weekend in Singapore and could gain a few points on McLaren in the constructor’s championship.

Despite such concerns, Red Bull had a great pace in Baku, which Sergio Perez has claimed would be put to good use around the streets of Marina Bay. Thus, a three-way battle for the rostrum could emerge on the race day.
