Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collided at the Austrian GP, which heated up the situation afterwards. The paddock talked about their collision for a week. Reporters are still questioning Verstappen about the incident ahead of the British GP on Sunday.

Max Verstappen stated that he understands the emotions and disappointment that come after such an incident. He mentioned that remaining calm at that moment and letting things settle down was most important to him. Perhaps this was a dig at Norris’ comments post-race. Since saying something during the heat of the moment would never be right anyway. By staying calm and composed Verstappen thought it would be easier for him to talk to Lando Norris about the incident.

I understand it all and because of that I also thought to myself of just let it cool down. That's for the best. I understand being emotional and being disappointed.

Max Verstappen expressed his disappointment about what happened during the Austrian GP. However, he highlighted that it’s not necessary to express every feeling or reaction immediately in front of the camera. The Dutchman believed that while it’s important to acknowledge disappointment, not all emotions need to be shown publicly. Instead, some reactions are better handled privately or after some time.

I was also disappointed with what happened in Austria, but in the end you don't have to shout everything on camera right away.

Max Verstappen claims the RB20 ‘snapped on him’ during British GP Qualifying

Max Verstappen after the qualifying session talked about what went wrong to media. He explained that he knew the track at copse corner was going to be slippery. However, Verstappen tried to slow it down but his car still lost control. Further, to avoid crashing into the wall, he quickly turned his steering. This caused him to go through the gravel, which ended up damaging the car’s floor significantly.

I knew that was gonna be slippery in Copse so I tried to slow down but the car still snapped on me and I had to correct it to keep it out of the wall, I had to go through the gravel and just damaged the floor quite a lot.

Verstappen praised his team for the efforts made to minimize the damage made to his car’s floor. He acknowledged despite the team’s hard work, his qualifying was going to be compromised because of the damage. However, he was shocked finishing fourth in the qualifying as the Dutchman did not think he would even finish in fourth with that damage. Max Verstappen felt the team did an exceptional job despite the setback.

I think the team did a great job to try optimise the floor losses but from that point onward the qualifying is going to be severely compromised. So we still did great job. Honestly I never expected to be P4 with that damage so I'm very pleased with that.

Certainly, Max Verstappen explained that he faced multiple issues during the qualifying session, which didn’t go well for him. However, his team did a great job fixing the damage, allowing him to finish fourth. Red Bull fans expect a good race at the British GP, but it could be tough since his British rivals hold the top three positions.
