Max Verstappen and Red Bull have had a disastrous campaign in 2025. The reigning world champion has virtually fallen out of the title race this season. The Dutch driver failed to even come close to fighting for a podium at the Hungarian GP this time around. Now, Verstappen has admitted that he wants to stop thinking about his season during the summer break.

The four-time world champion hoped to defend the championship this year. However, Red Bull has been no match to the two McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. With Max Verstappen only winning two races so far. The pressure has only built more on Milton Keynes with no real signs of improvement. So much so, Verstappen has declared that his results don’t really matter.

The situation remained grim at the Hungarian GP. Max Verstappen could only secure P8 in Qualifying. The race was worse, after almost making contact with Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen barely finished in the Top 10, with no pace of making any progress upfront.

The reigning world champion admitted that the Hungaroring weekend was not what Red Bull wanted. Now, the sport heads to a couple of weeks of downtime, known as the summer break. Max Verstappen hoped to recharge during this period and spend some time with his close ones, particularly his wife Kelly Piquet and daughter Lily. The 27-year-old made it clear that he will not be trying to think about Formula 1 during this much-needed break.

Ultimately, this weekend hasn’t gone to our liking, but it is now summer break and I can enjoy time with family and friends and not think too much about the racing side of things.

Max Verstappen keeping his ‘head up’ for remainder of 2025

Mathematically, Max Verstappen remains in the title fight against the two McLarens. The reigning world champion is a born racer who will never fully back down if there’s even the smallest chance of winning the title. Thus, despite previously stating that he is not in title contention anymore, Verstappen remains focused on improving in the latter half of the season.

The Red Bull star claimed that there were still plenty of races left in the season. Verstappen and Milton Keynes will be hoping to make some improvements after the summer break. The Dutchman asserted that consistency will be key going forward. While Max Verstappen admitted that he was disappointed, he was not going to get bogged down just yet.

There are many more races left and we can look to do better after the break. We want to aim to be more consistent and always try and even though it was a disappointing result we will keep our head up.

Max Verstappen is ready to fight till the end of the season. The reigning world champion will continue to push himself to the limit as long as he has even the smallest of chances of winning the title. This will provide some exciting action for fans, as Verstappen will try to give trouble to the two McLarens. However, realistically, it seems that the Dutchman is simply too far behind to catch up.
