Max Verstappen can’t catch a break. The Dutch driver is having a difficult campaign this season and the Hungarian GP has only made matters worse. The reigning world champion barely salvaged eighth place in Qualifying. Now, Verstappen has insisted that the results don’t seem to matter anymore.
The Red Bull star has managed to win only two races this season, far behind the two McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull struggles were rumored to be the reason behind his desire to join Mercedes. Though, the 27-year-old recently confirmed his future with Milton Keynes, ending speculation over a potential move to Mercedes.
Max Verstappen did show some promise last weekend when he won the Sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps. Unfortunately, the Dutchman has failed to carry forward this momentum. Red Bull is just not quick enough to challenge the frontrunners yet again this weekend.
After the session, Max Verstappen admitted that every session this weekend has been nothing short of a challenge. The four-time world champion confessed that such things simply don’t matter to him anymore, as he is unable to improve.
Every session was difficult, so it doesn’t matter. Qualifying was the same as before. It was still bad.
Max Verstappen said post-Qualifying
''how difficult was it today?''

Max Verstappen has no ‘hope’ for 2025 title fight
Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 in the ground-effect era. The Dutch driver won four consecutive world championships, cementing himself as an all-time great. However, Max Verstappen’s era of dominance seems to have ended long ago. With the Red Bull star failing to continue a realistic title challenge.

Max Verstappen was asked whether the summer break could bring some hope to the Red Bull camp. The Dutchman gave a blatant response. He made it clear that he did not expect Red Bull to have any improvements even in the latter half of the season. Verstappen even went on to rule himself out of the title race.
What kind of hope do you mean? Performance improvement? We’re not in contention for the championship anymore anyway, are we? So you just try to have a good weekend here and there. This certainly isn’t one of them.
Max Verstappen said, as quoted by GPBlog
max when asked if he has hope for after the summer break:

It seems that Max Verstappen is incredibly frustrated over his failure to compete at the front. The reigning world champion has tried his best since the start of the season. Unfortunately, Red Bull simply does not have a race-winning car at the moment, with no real chances of improvement anytime soon.
