Red Bull’s incessant struggles with chassis performance were visible at the US GP. Despite Max Verstappen amassing the sprint race win and starting on the front row, he faced a torrid time during the race. Verstappen fended off well against an overly aggressive Lando Norris and clinched the podium (P3) from the Briton.

Max Verstappen was calm and collected during the latter half of the US GP while fighting against Norris. Verstappen defended to the best of his capabilities, forcing Lando Norris to make major mistakes and receive a five-second penalty. However, speaking upon Norris’ aggressive moves, the Dutchman reckoned that he didn’t want to share his opinion publicly. The reigning world champion left the analysis on the stewards and awaited the final call.

I have my opinion but I don’t need to say it here, I’ll just let the stewards do their thing and we will analyse that.

In addition to this, Verstappen pointed out the difficulties he faced while driving around the COTA circuit. He noted that he didn’t have the pace to attack and gave it his all to defend against Norris. Regardless, scoring a podium was a great end to the up-and-down American weekend for the championship leader.

For me, it was quite a difficult race, I didn’t have the pace to attack. It was a tough battle, tried everything I could to keep [Norris] behind but in the end a podium is a great result.

Max Verstappen labeled Lando Norris’ overtake move as ‘weird’

Lando Norris had to move outside the track in a last-straw attempt to clinch the podium from Max Verstappen. FIA immediately took note of the incident and awarded a five-second penalty to the Briton. As a result, Verstappen claimed that it was ‘weird’ to witness Norris overtake from outside the track. Moreover, the Dutchman reiterated that the US GP was difficult for him as he gave it his all for the podium.

My God that was a hard race. I did everything today, and defended. It’s weird that you can overtake off track.

Verstappen has successfully extended his lead in the drivers’ championship after a podium finish at the US GP. The Dutchman is highly likely to maintain the lead now and be crowned as the fourth-time world champion this season. Norris, on the other hand, must look into the race and ensure that such silly mistakes aren’t repeated from his end.
