Max Verstappen was unable to score any results to boast about at the Hungarian GP. The Dutchman qualified in P8 for the main race and couldn’t move up the pecking order as he ultimately lost one position and finished in P9. Moreover, in the final stages of the race, the Dutchman avoided a close collision with Lewis Hamilton as the latter went off the track to prevent a crash. Although there weren’t any mishaps, the stewards called in both parties involved for investigation post-race.
Max Verstappen wasn’t too happy with the FIA taking stern actions and investigating the matter thoroughly after the race ended. Neither of the parties lashed out on the team radio following the incident, as it could have easily been ruled out as a racing incident. Now, the 27-year-old gets real on his feelings about visiting the stewards’ room to clarify his side of the story.
Speaking on being summoned to the officials, Max Verstappen declared that he was pretty disappointed by it. The Dutchman wasn’t impressed by the fact that he had to show up to the stewards for a small incident with Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen further called out for the FIA officials to analyze the incident in the race and clear either of the drivers of any wrongdoing.
I’m actually pretty disapointed I have to go to the stewards after the race. Just analyze it in the race.
Max Verstappen said in a post-race interview.
Verstappen revealed that he just pushed his car a bit too close to Lewis Hamilton in hopes of receiving an overtaking opportunity in the subsequent corners. Meanwhile, Hamilton got too scared and startled from the move and had to take exaggerated action on the track. For now, both parties will appear to the stewards and put their case forward, as the Dutchman hopes to steer clear of any unwarranted penalties that could drop him further down from his P9 finish.
I just set my nose next to him, he gets scared and goes off track.
Max Verstappen added.

Lewis Hamilton gives an uninterested statement on near collision with Max Verstappen
Lewis Hamilton’s race pace was extremely disappointing, leaving him on the back foot for the entirety of the Hungarian GP. The Briton didn’t have to fight too hard with Max Verstappen, knowing the latter was going to overtake him sooner or later. However, when asked about a near collision, Hamilton asserted that he didn’t care about the incident, claiming he had already forgotten what actually happened during the race.

Lewis Hamilton revealed that he didn’t even remember the events that unfolded with Max Verstappen at the Hungarian GP. The Briton pointed out that he noticed at the last moment that Verstappen was very close to the right side of his car. As a result, he had to take serious evasive action to avoid a collision and prevent the race from going any worse than it already had.
I don’t really remember to be honest. I saw last minute he was quite close to my right wheel, so I tried to avoid a collision.

Red Bull’s extremely disappointing pace caused problems for Max Verstappen in his hunt to improve his position in the main race. The Dutchman gave it his all and still couldn’t move up the pecking order. Hence, the reigning world champion will take the much-needed summer break and hope to bounce back with a much better pace than the first half of the 2025 season indicated.
