Max Verstappen has risen as one of the most sensational talents in Formula 1 ever since he debuted with Red Bull mid-way through the 2016 season. The Dutchman won his first championship in 2021 under controversial circumstances and never looked back. Verstappen amassed his fourth consecutive title at the recent Las Vegas GP and joined the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost in achievements.
Verstappen headed into the 2024 season following up from an extremely dominant outing in the 2023 season. Although Red Bull’s struggles disabled several victory chances for the Dutchman, he kept up with his performances. The stellar drive at the rain-laden Brazilian GP was just one of many masterclass performances from the reigning world champion.
The 2024 world championship victory placed Verstappen amongst the legends of the sport like Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, and others for consecutive world championships. Sebastian Vettel from 2010 to 2013 was the latest driver at Red Bull to showcase performance of such calibre. However, the Dutchman still has many years left in Formula 1 as he continues to look promising to showcase more such results.
Apart from the record-shattering performances, Verstappen has already surpassed Vettel in terms of race wins. No other Red Bull drivers have been able to match the Dutchman’s dominant performance in the past.
Moreover, with such results, it is highly likely that the ‘next Max Verstappen’ wouldn’t be witnessed for many decades to come. As a result, it is safe to assume that the 27-year-old is one of the most successful drivers in not only Red Bull but possibly the entirety of Formula 1.
What did Max Verstappen achieve in the 2024 season?
The 2024 season was a rude awakening for Max Verstappen as he suffered from an extremely dismal chassis. The Dutchman couldn’t compete for race wins throughout the season despite maintaining the championship lead. Verstappen defied all odds and continued to showcase impressive results throughout the campaign.
The four-time world champion also achieved some major achievements in the 2024 season amidst the struggles. Verstappen became the only driver in Formula 1 to win races from 10 different starting positions on the grid. The Dutchman also surpassed Schumacher for the longest consecutive streak as championship leader after leading the championship for 896 days and counting.
Max Verstappen has added another record to his achievements! ? He’s now led the F1 World Championship for 897 consecutive days, surpassing Michael Schumacher’s 896-day streak from 2000-2003. Verstappen has held the lead since the 2022 Spanish GP. #Verstappen #BrazilianGP pic.twitter.com/9znTRPKROX

Verstappen also equaled late Ayrton Senna‘s record of most number of consecutive pole positions at eight. Hence, the 27-year-old can now take a sigh of relief after securing the 2024 title. This season has been the most excruciating for the reigning world champion due to the incessant struggles. The winter break after the campaign would thus, be an extremely relaxing affair for the four-time world champion.
